As a lifelong learner interested in brain function, my initial education led me to the field of teaching with a direct interest in how the brain receives and processes information as well as ways to communicate in a way that could be understood with the goal of improving the quality of life through education. With a BSE in Special Education degree from the University of Central Oklahoma, I began a teaching career in what was at the time a leading-edge field in individualized education. One in which the skills of analyzing how people best receive information, developing, and instituting an individualized plan with a measurable outcome. My eight-year career as a teacher was unique in that I taught students with several biological exceptionalities in grades K-12 holding certifications in Oklahoma, Florida, and Texas.

Utilizing my education and interests in life sciences, psychology, chemistry, and ability to relay information into a sale, I made a career shift to health-related industries utilizing the skills that I had learned in analyzing how doctors, healthcare professionals, and patients best-received information, prepared, and presented health content, and measuring outcome by sales or a change in behavior.
My healthcare sales career spanned a period of 30 years with several notable Fortune 500 companies; Proctor and Gamble, Bristol Myers Squibb, Searle Laboratories, Warner-Lambert/Parke-Davis, and Pfizer continuing with working with a contract salesforce to launch a new product and as a Business Development Specialist with Physician Education Resource (PER) providing continuing medical information in the oncology field. During my career, I had the opportunity and privilege to train and interact with healthcare professionals during an exciting time with a plethora of new pharmaceuticals and treatment modalities in the areas of; cardiovascular (hypertension and cholesterol), psychotropics-antidepressants, and anti-anxiety, antibiotics-introducing several new classes, sleep medicines, pain- Nsaids and Neuropathic, women’s health, gastroenterology, Alzheimer’s, and endocrinology- diabetes.

Writing allows me to continue to utilize the wealth of information, resources, extensive network, and background to help improve understanding and quality of life for those interested in health-related topics.
On the lighter side, I love reading, researching, and learning new things which include detective-type investigations/thriller/mysteries as well as budget design, US education, Women’s issues, health equity, Brain Health, and of course, fine dining, drink and socializing with great conversation and civil debate as well as nature, music and the arts and family.
